Biosafety Office is an independent non commercial, non-profit. Biosafety Office is established by order of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. Office duties are to promote and strengthen national capacities to implement activities on the governmental sector, academic and in the civil society; also promoteing studies and scientific research in the field of "climate change" and facilitate the implementation of the activities, programs and projects that contribute to the goals of the UN Convention on Climate Change at the local, regional and international levels.

a) logistic assistance of the Moldovan Govern and local institutions, organizations (institutions) non-governmental and academic activities implemented by Moldova and promoted by the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to the Convention on conservation of biological diversity

b) projects and programs implementation regarding the activities:

Governing bodies of the Office are: a) Coordinator Consilium b) Office Manager, who is also head of the project.

Coordinator Consilium of the "Biosafety" Office consist from


1. George Salaru - President, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources,


2. Valentina Caldarus - secretary, deputy chief of natural resources and biodiversity of the Ministry ofEcology and Natural Resources, Secretary of the National Biosafety Commetee;


3. Pintilie PARVAN - head of the food policy department, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry;


4. Vasile SCORPAN -  Biodiversity office manager, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources;


5. Alexandru TELEUTA - research assistant coordinator, Institute of Genetics, Academy of Sciences of Moldova;


6. Ilya TROMBIŢKI - Executiv Director, International Association of Environment "Eco-Tiras".

(i) designing and implementing of the national Biosafety Frame;


(ii) risk assessment and socio effects on biological and economic components of the country;


(iii) development and implementation of regulatory uses of GMOs;


(iv) risks assessment of the technology and promoting the implementation of the biotechonolies which doesnt present risks for the environmental and health and contribute to the sustainable economic development of the country;


(v) facilitating the creation of databases and information systems and monitoring the use of GMOs, participation at the Informational Exchange Mechanism on GMOs, including environmental cases of accidental sheeping;


(vi) strengthening national capacities to address biosafety issues related to the frame;
(vii) promote and implement activities focused on sustainable use of biological resourses;


(viii) cooperation, promotion and implementareaactivităţilor, projects and programs under exchange mechanisms deInformaţii on GMOs, and other mechanisms and instruments provided deProtocolului of Cartagena on Biosafety, to which Moldova esteparte or / and eligible;


(ix) development of project proposals, project concepts, documents, etc. deproiect. and presentation to funding institutions and international abilitatenaţionale;


(x) implementation and facilitation of awareness and information activities societăţiicivile, relevant specialists and decision alfactorilor.
